Abstract overview

A summary of the source abstract.

Structured factor analysis offers a data-matrix approach to SEM that jointly estimates measurement parameters and candidate factor scores using alternating least squares, then estimates structural relationships from those scores. The framework addresses improper solutions and supports probabilistic statements about factor scores through a distribution of candidate scores consistent with the observed data. Simulation and empirical analyses examine its performance and practical application.
